We obtained all the necessary permissions to dive in the loch, i.e the Water Authority, the Forestry Commission, who owned the land and Mr Baird of Lambdoughty Farm, on whose land we camped. We also obtained the permission of the M.O.D as laid down in M.O.D leaflet D/S (Air)/54/2/1 issued in July 1977.
We duly marked onto the maps the appropriate flight path and also marked out an area for a search. Since we were fairly certain of finding the Spitfire on our first dive, we also researched the aeroplane and worked out how we could lift it. Little did we know that it was going to take six years to find!!
