Armed with this information, Bruce made many more contacts around the area of the loch and discovered another eye witness, a Mr Bob Howatson, who lived on the lochside and was twelve years old at the time of the accident.

Bruce also learnt that a team of divers, using standard diving gear had searched the loch for about six weeks, but inclement weather (and as rumour has it a group of supporting WAFS) held up the operation and kept all indoors.
It was ultimately decided to abandon the search.
