Criteria for approved boat handlers

 The criteria for taking the boat on club expeditions are defined by the Insurers and are as follows:

1)         Persons must complete all aspects of the branch boat handling course and be approved by the boat committee of Dumfries and Galloway Sub Aqua Club in all aspects of towing, launching, high and low speed handling, diver recovery, boat recovery and preventative maintenance.

or

2)         Persons must have a minimum of two years boat handling experience and be approved by the boat committee of Dumfries and Galloway Sub Aqua Club in all aspects of towing, launching, high and low speed handling, diver recovery, boat recovery and preventative maintenance.

            The names of persons authorised to take the boat appear on the branch membership database and will be amended upon the instruction of the boat committee.

           This document, along with the list of approved boat handlers, forms part of the declaration made to the insurance company.  The use of the club boat out with the above conditions will render the insurance invalid.

            Will all authorised boat handlers please note:

            Those persons on board the boat at the time of any damage to it, will be jointly be liable to a charge of up to £100.00 towards repair costs.
